Hi there, I'm Maya Fakhrriddine (Fak-ri-deen).
I create abstract art for curious souls who seek moments of tranquility amidst life’s chaos. My work is a sanctuary, guiding you gently to a place of healing, realignment, and reconnection with your inner power. Each piece is crafted to serve as a bridge between the outer world and your spiritual essence, offering not just a visual escape, but a deep, calming presence that nurtures your soul.
As a first-generation Lebanese-American, my life has been shaped by the duality of two distinct worlds. Growing up, I sought acceptance and understanding, finding beauty in the connections I forged between cultures. This journey of self-discovery, fueled by an insatiable curiosity, led me to explore the essence of identity and what it means to be human.
I believe that we are spiritual beings navigating the complexities of human existence, and my art reflects this philosophy. Each piece I create is an invitation to transcend the material world and reconnect with the boundless spiritual realm within, offering a moment of tranquility amidst life’s chaos.
My creative process is heavily influenced by Islamic mysticism and the natural world's wonders—light, atmosphere, florals, and intricate letter forms all harmonize to fuel my artistic expression. Through my art, I aim to communicate the beauty of connection, transcending any specific creed or cultural boundary.
The tactile and three-dimensional qualities of my work encourage viewers to engage with it physically, drawing them into a state of curiosity and introspection. This interaction allows for a temporary escape from the everyday, inviting a deeper exploration of the self.
One of my greatest desires is to uplift those who, like myself, experience the feeling of being "home away from home." My work encourages those of you living in diaspora to embrace every aspect of who you are.
If you're an art collector with an appreciation for original contemporary art that resonates on a spiritual level, my work offers a unique opportunity to acquire pieces that not only enhance your collection but also provide a profound connection to the human experience. Each piece is a testament to the beauty of abstraction and the exploration of identity, offering depth, meaning, and a touch of the divine.
When I'm not in my studio, you'll find me:
going for walks in Balboa Park or Seaport Village with my family,
trying out different boutique coffee shops,
and having the time of my life being her mother!
