About the series
Abjad is a series of mixed media abstract paintings rooted in Arabic letterforms and quiet symbolism. Each piece centers a single character—an anchor for stillness—built with texture that reveals depth as the light shifts throughout the day.
About the process
I begin each piece by building texture with plaster and acrylic medium, then develop the surface through layered color and restraint. My palettes are pulled from the sky at different times of day and texture pulled from the sandstone landscapes of Sunset Cliffs and Torrey Pines. The blues and turquiouse echo the tile work and filigree found in Islamic architecture and illumination.

My intent
These paintings are made to live with you. They can hold presence without demanding attention. My focus is not on depicting the letter’s form, but on translating its inner meaning. I hope each piece offers quiet strength. It is something you feel when you enter the room and return to over time.
